PHIL 299 Ethics Bowl: Contemporary Debates on Ethical Issues

This course is centered around understanding, and engaging deeply, with applied ethics cases developed for the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl.  These cases typically deal with a broad array of contemporary issues, such as immigration rights, the ethics of self-driving cars, gun control, race/gender on college campuses, etc.  In the course, students will research realistic ethical cases, work in teams to develop thoughtful ethical analysis of these cases, and articulate these analyses both verbally and in writing.  Throughout the semester, students will prepare for the regional Ethics Bowl competition.
