MUSC 273 Choral Conducting

This course provides an introduction to choral conducting technique and the study of choral music. Using music drawn from across the choral repertoire, students will learn to develop their musical interpretation through score study and analysis and then translate this interpretation into a clear and expressive gestural vocabulary. The course will include the following areas: conducting gestures, rehearsal preparation and technique, score study & performance practice, and basics of singing technique.  Culminates in conducting the Occidental Glee Club in concert.
