PHIL 332 Public Health Ethics

Ethical issues arise in all aspects of public health.  Some questions we may explore are: what are health disparities and what makes them unjust?  Should individuals be held responsible for areas of public health concern, such as smoking and obesity?  When should the state mandate vaccines?  How can and should public health norms impact areas of our lives, such as sexual behavior and birth control?  Is public health ableist? This course satisfies the Philosophy Department Experiential Learning Requirement.
