PHIL 345 Consciousness and Cognition

How is it possible to study the mind scientifically? This class will explore philosophical issues about the application of scientific methods to cognitive phenomena, including questions such as the appropriate architecture of cognition, the possibility of artificial intelligence, the relation between commonsense psychology and theories in cognitive science, and the possibility of a scientific understanding of consciousness.
