MUSC 109 Piano Class
The goal of this course is to introduce students to the piano and help them develop basic performance skills, teaching them how to play introductory-level pieces in a variety of classical and popular styles. Along the way, students will learn to read sheet music, and develop a command of other music fundamentals including note names, scales, counting beats, efficient physical motion, and basic ideas about phrasing and flow. Piano Class is intended for non-majors without previous piano training; Music majors should take MUSC 101, MUSC 231, or MUSC 232, or individual piano lessons.
