MUSC 231 Keyboard Musicianship I

In this course, students learn to use the piano as a tool to explore musical structure, access new repertoire, and internalize music theory concepts. Students learn a broad range of keyboard skills: basic keyboard technique, sight reading, harmonization of melodies and basses, transposition, and accompanying. Students apply these skills to a wide variety of musical styles, including classical, jazz, and popular music. MUSC 231 is required of all Music majors and is intended to parallel the content of MUSC 151.
