This course examines the role of entrepreneurs in generating replacements for the status quo. Throughout this course, we'll focus on entrepreneurship’s intersection with citizenship in the context of Los Angeles—a city filled with diversity and innovation.
We’ll take a multidisciplinary approach to understanding entrepreneurship across domains, including commerce, culture, and society. We'll examine how entrepreneurs navigate change differently, their motivations to start new ventures, the impact of policies and norms on founders, the dynamics of entrepreneurial ecosystems, and the entrepreneurial potential of urban environments. Through interaction and collaboration, you'll gain knowledge and analytical skills for understanding entrepreneurial activity.
We'll also examine emerging ventures poised to shape Los Angeles in the coming years. By developing an informed perspective on these loci of transformation, you'll become better equipped to take an authentic position on relevant debates. Through these case studies, you'll be empowered to contribute meaningfully to the entrepreneurial landscape as participants in a new venture or as a stakeholder in their ends.
