CTSJ 490 Senior Seminar in Critical Theory and Social Justice

Each year, the senior class in CTSJ will undertake a shared project addressing a specific and concrete political or social problem identified by the department faculty in advance of the seminar. Students will collaborate to address the problem, bringing to bear a variety of intervention modalities, including: theoretical, clinical, qualitative, critical-legal and quantitative research approaches as well as activist techniques and practices. In some years, the senior seminar may partner with a specific organization that is focused on addressing the problem taken up by the seminar. When this is the case, students will have the opportunity to work with the partner organization as volunteers. The individual student contributions to the seminar project will serve as the senior comprehensive project for the major.
