ECON 302 Industrial Organization

This course introduces the field of industrial organization, which studies how firms make strategic decisions. We will analyze a wide range of issues such as market entry, product positioning, market leadership, and mergers and acquisitions. We will also examine the role of competition law. Our approach blends two alternative but complementary methodologies: theoretical modeling of strategic firm behavior and industry equilibrium, and the factual detail found in case studies of specific industries.
