GEO 230 Geologic Hazards

This course will examine the physical and chemical process associated with geologic hazards such as volcanism, earthquakes, and floods that have profoundly impacted civilizations globally and throughout human history. Southern California offers many excellent examples of geologic hazards that will inform our study. The course will include in-field examinations of local examples as well as evaluation of datasets associated with well-documented case studies of geologic hazards locally, in the western US, and around the world.
