MUSC 271 Instrumental and Vocal Arranging

An instrumental and vocal arranging course for undergraduate music majors is an essential part of their training, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the techniques and principles of arranging music for various ensembles. This course will cover topics such as instrument and vocal ranges, transpositions, and idiomatic writing for each instrument, as well as score study and analysis. Students will learn to create effective and expressive arrangements for a wide range of musical styles and genres, from classical to contemporary. Through a combination of lectures, workshops, and practical assignments, students will develop their skills in arranging, as well as their ability to collaborate with other musicians and performers. This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become skilled arrangers and orchestrators, and to prepare them for careers in music composition, film scoring, and other related fields.
