MUSC 188 Concert and Events Management

This course covers fundamental technical skills needed to plan and manage a wide variety of music events. Topics include understanding different types of events, performer and audience expectations, preparing and interpreting tech sheets, basic stage management, theater and venue terminology, program creation and poster design, social media strategies, and communication protocols. Practical exercises in event management will culminate in a group-produced live event and/or participation as staff for the department's end-of-semester performances. Fundamentals of audio recording and broadcast engineering will be introduced later in the semester.
