COGS 228 Current Advances in Neuroscience and AI
Drawing from recent advances, this seminar explores the rapidly-advancing intersection between neuroscience and machine learning. This course will address theoretical, practical, and ethical considerations in contemporary cognitive science, including best practices in scientific research and the responsible development of AI systems. Students in this class will examine how intelligences - both natural and artificial - learn, organize knowledge, and make decisions through weekly readings, group discussions, and code demonstrations. Students will evaluate experimental methods, neural coding principles, and computational models in literature and commentaries at the forefront of cognitive and computer science. The course culminates in a student-led conference showcasing research projects in neuroscience and AI.
