DWA 210 Politics of Eurasia and Eastern Europe

This course introduces students to the diverse politics, societies, and international relations of countries in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Baltic states, and Russia, shaped by shared yet distinct state-socialist experiences. It examines post-communist political and economic transformations since 1991, exploring variations in governance, state-society relations, foreign policy and interstate conflict. Through comparative methods, students engage in assignments encouraging cross-national or temporal analyses of multiple states, fostering balanced regional understanding.
