JAPN 350 Professional Japanese
This course is an advanced-level Japanese language course for students who wish to gain speaking, reading, and writing skills in professional and academic Japanese. We will learn the nuanced usages of formal and honorific language, engage with authentic materials such as business correspondence, academic texts, and professional presentations to gain advanced vocabulary and grammar strategies. Through speaking and writing assignments, students will produce and present arguments, proposals, and reports in professional Japanese. In addition, students will enhance cultural competence and linguistic fluency in formal environments through an understanding of the social and cultural dynamics of the Japanese work space.
