AMST 110 Introduction to Black Studies
This course introduces students to the history and methods of the discipline known as Black Studies. Readings will focus on the development of Black racial consciousness in the United States, the West, and across the global Black diaspora. Students will get a sense of the institutions and philosophies that have been at the heart of Black thought, including: enslavement, de/colonization, spirituality, feminism/womanism, sexuality, class, Pan-Africanism, liberation politics, migration, and art.
