FYS 72 City Scenes: Urban Cultural Studies
This seminar examines the generative relationship between urban experience and creative expression in major world cities--such as London, Paris, New York, Berlin and Los Angeles--in the 19th and 20th century. We will consider how the material and social aspects of urban life have informed works of literature, painting, photography and film. Open to first-year frosh only.
